Recent Activity:
Salisbury Vision is fully supportive of Wiltshire Council's bid for Local Sustainable Transport Funding for Improving Wiltshire's Rail Offer.

Background:
Salisbury railway station is located on the western side of the city. Adjacent is a surface level car park providing 270 spaces. There is a small taxi rank but no bus service operating from the station. The main bus station is located some distance away near the city centre. The station is not on any of the Park and Ride routes.

Vision Objective:
Construct a public transport interchange adjacent to the railway station which includes a new Station Square.

Proposals:
- Increase the number of parking spaces at the station to meet extra demand from rail passengers
- Create a space for bus stops and bus turn around within the station forecourt
- Extend and divert some of the bus services to serve the rail station
- Provide layover space and facilities for bus services
- Extend the Park and Ride service to serve the rail station if appropriate
- Create cycle parking and taxi ranks within the station forecourt
- Create a new station square intended as an active urban space where people can meet and interact
- Minimise the intrusion of car parking and vehicle access
